... especially when you need to wake up for a 9am class the day after.
So anyway, it’s been recently confirmed to me by a lovely, albeit slightly neurotic friend who had the honor of crashing on my floor this weekend, that I am still suffering from bruxism (Google it!). I always wondered why every morning, it felt like I just had a visit to the dentist’s office. Therefore, in my current state of insomnia, I figured it was useless to keep trying to force the sleep that refused to come. And since Dexter Aguila is off at dance practice and I needed a temporary attention fix aside from staring at the shadows on my ceiling, I Googled it myself and lo and behold, discovered the following:
“Although teeth grinding can be caused by stress and anxiety, it often occurs during sleep and is more likely caused by an abnormal bite or missing or crooked teeth.” (WebMD)
Now since I’m pretty sure I haven’t lost any teeth recently, I can be pretty certain that the root of all this mess is probably more applicable to the first cause. So damn you, nursing school. You are the bane of my existence, yet provides all meaning to it at the same time. I’d hate to be one of those people that go to sleep looking like they’re ready to hit the football field. A mouthguard really isn’t the most attractive accessory on a girl. So from this night on, as recommended by the trusty WebMD doctors, I will strive to clear my mind of all stress-related thoughts and worries. I will focus on the much brighter sides of life. May 28th is less than 100 days after all. I can’t be having chipped and worn-down teeth while I’m smiling away in my graduation gown now can I?
goodnight world.
